Cooking for the Kids: A celebrity cookbook to help Child Wise

Cooking for the Kids is a fantastic new celebrity cookbook. Many of Australia's leading actors, politicians and sports people including Andrew Daddo, Steve Waugh, Deborah Hutton and Andrew Denton have provided their favourite recipes. The delicious treats on offer include Lao-Spicy Fried Egg Salad, extravagant Pasta with Prosciutto and Asparagus, and the divine Chocolate, Almond and Date Torte.

All proceeds will benefit Child Wise in our fight against the sexual abuse and exploitation of children.

A sample recipe has been provided by the Australian Author Jackie French which will whet your appetite for our fantastic cookbook.

The Sensational Sausage Roll

Filling

Optional extras

Pastry

You can use filo, puff, or flaky.

Roll up the filling in the pastry. Don't make it too thick, or the pastry will burn before the insides cook, but don't make it stingy either. You can make long or small rolls. I like to join up the pastry by slightly overlapping each sheet and making one enormous sausage, then coiling it up like a mat. This turns a sausage roll into something special enough for a dinner party, but call it .sausage de campange. instead of sausage roll!

Bake at 200c for 15-25 minutes, or until light brown. Small rolls will take less time to cook.

The rolls are best straight from the oven but can be reheated. Keep in a sealed container in the fridge for 3 days or so.

Not suitable to freeze.
